Written by ESPM

To conclude an exceptional 2011, we asked of our collaborators noted below, both internationally recognized authors in the fields of project and programme management, to contribute each a white paper that ESPM may present as gifts to our partners, clients, alumnae and subscribers on this festive season.
With these two valuable contributions we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012
White Paper 01
Author: David Hillson, PMP®, FRSA, FAPM, PMI Fellow, FIRM, globally recognized as Risk Doctor, one of the maximum experts into Risk Management field.
Title: Managing Risk in Projects: What’s new?
Introduction: While it is true that there is wide consensus on project risk management basics, the continued failure of projects to deliver consistent benefits suggests that the problem of risk in projects has not been completely solved. Clearly there must be some mismatch between project risk management theory and practice, or perhaps there are new aspects to be discovered and implemented, otherwise all project risks would be managed effectively and most projects would succeed.
So what could possibly remain to be discovered about this venerable topic?
White Paper 02
Author: Michel Thiry, PMP®, FAPM, PMI Fellow, MSP Advanced Practitioner, best sellers author and international conference speaker on themes of Value, Program and Portfolio Management.
Title: From PMO to PBO: The PMO as a vehicle for organizational change.
Introduction: This paper will use both research and case examples to demonstrate how PMOs can be developed as vehicles to organizational change and effectively minimize conflict and tension while ensuring sustainability of the organizational project management (OPM) approach.
The PMO can be an effective vehicle to integrate strategy, project, program and portfolio management in an overall OPM approach.
